European Mediation Network Initiative
A network for networks
On September 29, 2007, the European Mediation Network Initiative was inaugurated in Vienna, Austria by 60 organisations. Twenty members from as many European countries were elected as the first board of EMNI. The second successful conference just completed in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and the third conference will be held in 2009.
EMNI is a network for networks, organisations and institutions, trying to fulfill needs not covered by other mediation organisations. Their web page is under development, and can be accessed at http://www.mediationeurope.net/.

In the News (28 April 2008): European Parliament Adopts Directive to Promote Mediation The European Parliament has formally approved the European Union’s proposed Directive on Mediation for cross-border civil and commercial disputes, paving the way for member states to enact laws adopting the directive’s procedures on confidentiality of mediation communications, enforcement of mediation settlement agreements, and other issues. |
